Do you provide transportation?
Skyland Retreat is conveniently located 25 miles from Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), 90 miles from Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (GSP), 2.5 hours from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), and 3 hours from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
With advance notice, we will provide shuttle service to and from the Asheville Regional Airport. Please notify us as soon as you book your travel so we can add your information to our pick-up schedule.
With many attendees choosing to drive to our programs (so they can add a day or two of sightseeing!), we also provide complimentary valet parking service at our facility.
What are your cancellation and refund policy?
A deposit and/or full payment is due at the time of registration.
If full payment is not made upon registration, full payment must be paid 45 days before the program’s start date, or upon registration if registration occurs within 45 days of program start.
Refunds are available (less a $200 processing fee) if cancellation occurs BEFORE 45 days before the program’s start date.
If cancellation occurs within 45 days of the program’s start date, no refund is available. Nonrefundable credit toward a future Skyland program or stay (less a $200 processing fee) is available if a medical emergency prohibits you from attending. Notice between seven and one day(s) before your program or stay. Credit may be applied to any Skyland program for one year following the date of issue.

Other Details and FAQs
Activities: “Traditional” camp activities will be open at various times throughout your stay. Activities include archery, tennis, swimming (heated pool), recycled arts and crafts, horseback riding, and court games. Check the Information Board for details.
Cell Phones: To uphold the integrity of your experience at Skyland, we discourage cell phone use on the property. If usage is necessary, cell phones may be used in the office, your car, or in the main parking lot. Please be sure cell phones are turned off during workshops and other gatherings.
Dietary Needs: While each retreat may offer different food options (such as vegan, vegetarian, anti-inflammatory, nut-free, etc.), the majority will offer a regular diet with vegetarian options. We strive to accommodate our guests’ needs whenever possible. If you have special dietary needs that have not been answered prior to booking, please call us at (828) 627-2470.
Fax and Copying: Fax and copying services are available for a small fee at Guest Services.
First Aid and Medical Attention: Guest Services can assist you with first aid and obtaining outside medical attention. A Regional Medical Center is just three miles away and there are several Urgent Care facilities that can treat patients as well.
Flashlights: In order to be more in harmony with our natural environment, our camp is not brightly lit. Please bring a flashlight (or headlamp) with you. A limited number are available for purchase at Guest Services.
Food Storage: We do not recommend keeping food in your room. There is a selection of snacks available most all day and night. If you do choose to keep food in your room/sleeping area, please ensure it is tightly sealed. Also promptly remove any items that contain food waste. Use the wastebaskets in/near the restrooms, which are changed daily.
Guest Services: Guest Services is located in the office of the main building (the “Big House”). Some of the services provided are directions, fax and copying, first aid, flashlights, local and general information, lost and found, and maintenance/housekeeping requests. Guest Services can be reached at (828) 627-2470. Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Information Board: Be sure to check the information board located just outside of Guest Services. Check daily for messages, schedules, evening activities, and other activity times and locations.
Lost and Found: If you think you may have left something behind, please contact Guest Services at (828) 627-2470.
Mail and Messages: Mail and phone messages are posted on the bulletin board just outside Guest Services. Please check the board daily. We will make every effort to deliver emergency messages to you immediately.

Phone messages may be left at (828) 627-2470. This voicemail box is checked several times daily. To protect your privacy, we will not confirm your attendance with callers or individuals who ask if you are on site.
Email Messages may be sent to you at firstname.lastname@example.org ... with YOUR NAME listed in the Subject Line. This mailbox is checked two times daily and messages will be posted (privately) on the message board.

Packing Suggestions: We suggest packing a reusable water bottle or thermos, toiletries, alarm clock, flashlight, a journal with pen or pencil, insect repellant, rain gear, (umbrella or raincoat/boots), bathing suit, and other items you think would make your stay enjoyable. For activities, you may want to bring loose clothing, dancewear, or your own meditation pillow or yoga mat. If you are planning physical activity, such as tennis, obstacle course, or the like, please bring appropriate workout gear. If you plan to ride horses, please bring footwear with a heel (boots or shoes) and long pants or jeans. Helmets are provided. If you are planning to hike, we suggest packing long pants, long sleeve shirt, and bug repellant.
Pets: Pets are not permitted on campus. Please see local hotels and inns for local accommodations that will accept pets. You may also check with Guest Services for local pet boarding locations.
Phones: There are no phones located in Skyland’s lodgings. Guests may use the phone in Guest Services. Also, please see the cell phone policy.
Physical Needs: Because Skyland Retreat is a rustic, outdoor environment, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs at the facility. Please call us about any other special needs prior to booking your retreat: (828) 627-2470.
Recordings: Recording (video or audio) of any workshop or evening events is not permitted.
Recycling and Conservation: Skyland strives to recycle and conserve resources when possible. Please participate in our efforts by conserving water, using the recycling containers conveniently located, and turn off lights when not in your room.
Religious Services: Skyland Retreat and Skyland Camp for Girls embrace all religious affiliations and welcome all. Other than quiet time for individual reflection, prayer, or meditation, Skyland Retreat does not offer religious ceremonies. Vespers programs (normally offered on Sunday nights during the CAMP season) will not be held during retreat weekends. We will happily provide directions to local worship centers.
Roads: There is one private road that runs through Skyland and those who use it know to be aware of individuals in and around the camp. However, please do pay attention to Skyland vehicles, golf carts, or security personnel who may be using the road.
Security: Skyland Retreat is an open-air facility. While we hope that all attendees prescribe to the principles of goodwill, we simply cannot guarantee 100% security of your personal items. Please keep this in mind as you pack and be sure to leave items such as expensive jewelry, technology, and other valuables at home.
Skyland Camp for Girls has been in operation since 1917 and is considered a good friend of the neighbors and community. It is not uncommon to see local police patrolling Skyland grounds several times each day and night.
Smoking: Skyland is a nonsmoking facility. Please inquire at guest services about the nearest smoking area.
Spiders and other critters: All accommodations are inside, but that doesn’t mean you won’t occasionally see a daddy-long-legs or other little critter seeking warmth from the great outdoors. We usually find that they are more afraid of us than we are of them and we work hard to peacefully cohabitate.
Swimming Pool: The pool will be open at designated times during your stay for fitness or relaxation. If lifeguards are not on duty, please swim at your own risk.
Ticks: Ticks are a part of life in wooded environments. Check your body carefully for ticks (keeping in mind that some are very small) after being outdoors. Ticks will be the easiest to spot against light-colored clothing. Your best protection is to wear long pants, shoes and socks and long sleeves. Insect repellants are available at the Skyland store. See information boards or First Aid (available at Guest Services) for more information.
Wellness: You can enhance your stay by booking a relaxing full-body massage, chair massage, or aromatherapy session. Treatment and service times will vary for each session and you will be provided options before your arrival.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is free and available where you will be staying. There may be public computer access in Guest Services. Availability and access may be limited.
